Wedding Jam 2 through 4

2nd wedding jamming/practice session.
I think I got the 311 songs down.

Now its down to sharpening the Micheal Buble's and Bobby Caldwell's songs.
A song from the original list; Fly me to the moon by Frank Sinatra was revived on the count of an aunty who wanted to sing at the wedding.
Thankfully the chords were pretty straight forward.

3rd wedding jamming/practice session.
Same ol' thing

Beginning to get sick of the songs already, which is really a good sign ... really.
The wedding co-ordinator came by to check the band out.
Hahah some of us (yes including me) (actually especially me) got so nervous that we messed up here and there.
It was better after awhile once we got used to our new guest.

4th wedding jamming/practice session.
Pretty much the last session before the wedding.
Planned out the order of the songs, timed ourselves and did "dress rehearsels".
Heheh not bad, its only going to be infront of about 200++ over people whom 3/4 are strangers.
So no pressure, its only the last session before THE big day.

Wedding Jam 1

1st wedding jamming/practice session.
Nice nice, as in our number of songs were cut down to 7 ^^

Micheal Buble - Save the last dance, Sway
Innuendo - Belaian Jiwa
Manbai - Kau Ilhamku
311 - Amber, Love Song
Bobby Caldwell - What you won't do for love

Learned all the songs that night and was thankful that I didn't have to really play all of them,
(only needed to really know 5 of em)
which was another plus of course ^^

Had a little trouble with the full chords at first
cause i'm used to playing songs with either open chords or power chords
(which in my opinion; are a whole lot easier to use) .

All in all it was good, especially the 'goreng' session the bassis had with the drummer.
Hahah forgot how fun this was.

Family Meeting

Yeah since an uncle of mine is getting married soon,
the family decided to brief us all on some stuff
(hahah sounds cool, "the family")

One of the itenararies were about the music.
Since there were a few musicians in the family,
it was decided that there would be a band,
consisting of most the cousins.

"Oh great", I thought.
I haven't been playing the guitar in awhile,
so its gonna take some time to get back on the bike.

The songs that were set (after much discussion) (well not really)
are;

Micheal Buble - Save the last dance, Sway

Frank Sinatra - Fly me to the moon

Sheila Majid - Dia, Sinaran

Innuendo - Belaian Jiwa

Manbai - Kau Ilhamku

GSC - Senyuman Ragamu (KIV)

311 - Amber, Love Song

James Brown - Play That Funky Music

Doobie Brothers - Long Train Running

What would i do for love <-- no idea by whom

"Wow", I thought.
How the heck am I going to remember all these ?

LOL then I thought again ...
Oh man ! Just how cool it would playing all these ...
in my baju melayu !

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Shitzer, I got a feeling its gonna be one of those kodak moments.

p.s. Happy birthday May Yee !

Dinner at de Italiano Place

Had dinner at Italianese yesterday.
With a ma badminton group of friends,
had loads of fun in a civil manner of course,
well at least till the end part though,
cause then it was just blatant humour with the camera all the way
: D

The occasion ?
To celebrate Alex's birthday.

The Girls

The guys

*There were actually more people that the ones in the picture, but our cameraman has yet to post up the group pic, but no worries i'm sure it'll come ... within the next decade or so : p

Crazy crazy night.
I believe I took a step forward that night.
A step closer to remembering who I really was.
Cause unlike some, i'm not quite proud of who I really am right now.
Its been like this for quite sometime though.
But maybe, just maybe ... not for much longer.

p.s. Happy birthday Azmir !

Getting them gears cracking

The progress of the project i'm handling is going well comparatively.
Kind of glad that its actually moving.
Should be able to reach my personal deadline.

The new supervisor i'm assigned to right now is a whole lot better than the previous one.
At least this one actually shows some supervision and knows what is going on.
The constructive feedback i'm getting is a breath of fresh air compared to the
"Yeah yeah, can can. No problem. Go ahead." or the
"Where to start ? Well just start at the beginning."
bullshite nonsense idiotic statements I used to get.
Plus the new one actually takes the time to reply my emails.

Sheesh.

Yeah well anyway, on a brighter note;
My old mans birthday was today.

He celebrated it by playing a nice relaxing round of golf in the afternoon
before having a nice family dinner with the family.
Haven't gotten him anything yet, but I think there was that subtle hint in between the main course and desert that he wanted an SLK 500 or something within those lines.

pic from www.automotive.com

So yeah, either he was joking or he's gonna need to wait a few more years for me to (hopefully) get to that financial position.

Smoke, sound and light

Had a wonderful time at a friends birthday party last saturday.
Lots of smoke,
Lots of loud music and
Lots of blinding lights.
The usual things you get at these kind of places.
But it was all good, the company was great so the health threatning elements weren't much of a bother. Plus there were alot of chiques there too ^^

Had slight problems getting in initially,
But thanks to some influential people, we all got in in the end.
That is of course; not without the same old bullshite nonsense idiotic situation I have to go through everytime (well almost) theres an age limit to adhere.

Tall huge burly bouncer (THBB) : I.C. Please
Innocent old me (Cas) : Er .. here.
THBB : *checks I.C. picture and looks at Cas*
Cas : *gives ackward smile*
THBB : You are lying !
Cas : *gives WTF ?! look*
THBB : This is a fake and I know you're lying.

Cas : *tries to peek at the I.C. I just gave to see if it was actually mine*
THBB : *hold it up and away from sight*
THBB : Ok, whats your IC number ?
Cas : *gives "you've got to be kidding me" look*
THBB : *still holding IC close to him as if its the freaggin 6th grade exams*
Cas : effortlessly blurts out IC number with full confidence
THBB : Ok you may go. *Hands Cas's IC back*

Nice friend who handled transportation (J) : Wow, THAT doesnt happen everyday.
Cas : DUDE ! THAT never happened !

Besides the big hu ha at the entrance, everything else went well.
Met some old friends, wished made some new ones, saw the shuffle for the first time,

Nice friend who handled transportation (J) and the b'day boy.

Seriously, this was the only pic I saw fit to be posted up. (at least from the collection I was given)
PLUS there wasn't any pics of the b'day boy and me, apparently due to some focus issues.
Makes me wish I brought my own camera instead, so I won't complain ... much.

OH and the birthday boy got smashed.
LOL 90% evasion my foot : p

p.s. Happy birthday Yoong !

Withered away to nothingness

Yes, just a few hours ago my PC air filter decayed away to nothingness.
It just literally perished bit by bit into the drain.
I don't think i've seen anything like it (in real life).
Just like that, it decomposed as I touched it.
It's as if the dust had assimilated itself with the filter and simply took the filter with it as it went on its way (9 its ^^).

Well the incident all started when I decided to fix up my mom's old laptop.
Detesting the idea of using the touch pad, I took out the USB mouse that was attached to my PC and hooked it up to this little thing.

Yes, i'm currently blogging on this new found but actually really old laptop (doesn't even have in-built wifi).
Anyway, as I was patching this old thing up I realised that I needed a connection to the internet.
So again I took from my PC, this time it was the modem, its necessary wires AND the ethernet cable.
Being lazy and all I merely moved the keyboard away and placed the laptop close enough so I don't have to move anything else and just plug it all in.

Then I thought again,
Huh, there goes my downloads, at least for awhile.
Since I was going to leave my PC idle, I thought i'd give it a rest.

So I turned it off.

Happy with the gajillion spy wares and viruses that was eradicated, I started up my PC.
and lo and behold, a sound so creepy ...
Must be that time of the year again.

I opened up the front casing of my PC and there it was.
Dust and lots of it.
It was like a second layer blanketing the bottom front part of the PC like snow across a meadow field.

You can pretty much guessed what happened from then on.

Something that was brought to my attention by a good friend of mine eTiMaGo;

Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy

I don't know what it is about this number that gets me.
I kind of get a chill everytime I hear it after a long time.

Gives of the feeling of there's something really scary out there.
That a sight of it could very well paralyze me in fear,
but at the same time,
there's also something in the back of my mind that tells me that
the scary thing what ever it is,
is actually me.

pic from one of my old calvin and hobbes books I bought when I was a wee lad.

Kind of like comfort in fear, or fear in comfort.
Can't really tell right now.

So anyway, here is what i've gotten so far on trying to put to words of what the song is to me.
Note : Will probably add on to it later.

Like a devious thief lurking through the back alleys of a small town on a snowy night.
Making his way without a sound without a smell avoiding everyone's sight.

All the while not knowing that a mastermind in grey.
Waiting knowing and grinning about something no one can say.

Sitting in his antique recliner staring into the flames dancing to the air burning in a pact.
A thought so sweet yet so dark fluttering through one end of the room to the next.

More than a shadow more than an illusion created by the moonlight so pale.
Created by the flickering of the fire snapping and crackling away.
Thus the snow falls unwaveringly to the ground outside these windowed vale.
Swaying side to side endlessly like an eternity always resting and never astray.

- Lazy Guy
Tried to play it on my blog, but I can't seem to figure out how to play audio on a site.
I could do it if this was on a personal server where I can upload the song itself.
Anyway if you don't know which song i'm talking about you could get it here

Good logic and good acting but not a very good plot.
They could have done better with the story line.

Well at least its cool to me that is.

Before the night sky

The following are actual sms messages between Window Guy and Doughnut Guy;

WG:
The night falls red
Be nice beneath this

DG:
Red of the night isn't red of the moon
Cometh what might les later nor soon

WG:
Reprecussions of your done days of young
just might fork your tongue

DG:
We all have closets dark and gritty
facing our demons all bent and unlikely
WG:
Demons and angels were once one of the same
and you've no choice but to agree, that was just lame

DG:
Choices are illusions we use as shields
lame it was cause i've had no meals
The whole fiasco above is actually an encoded message of sorts the following is a rough translation of what was going on;

The NIGHT falls red
Be nice benEATh this
WG : Eh tonight wanna go yamcha ?

Red of the NIGHT isn't red of the moon
COMEth what might les LATER nor soon
DG : Tonight ah ? Erm, ok come pick me up abit later, i'm too lazy to drive.

Reprecussions of your "done days of young"
just might FORK YOUr tongue
WG : WTF?! Old man already ah, can't drive ? FcuK you !

we ALL have CLOSEts dark and gritty
facin'G O'ur demons all bent an'D UN'likely
DG : Eh chill la, all the yamcha places in your are are all closed by then. So if you don't like to drive then don't go.

demons and angels were once one of the same
and you've no choice but to agree, that was just LAME
WG : That's a lame reason not to drive -.-"

*Note: Up to this point, hunger and boredom has reached a certain limit so messages now are less "encrypted" and are pretty much straight forward.

choices are illusions we use as shields
lame it was cause i've had NO MEALS
DG : Yeah la, I know. That's because i'm hungry.

Not as smart as I thought

I am appalled !

Being bored at wee hours in the morning, I decided to take an IQ test.
Scored a 110 - Above average.

Took the another IQ test on another site.
Scored a 106 - Above average ... AGAIN !

Figuring 3rd times the charm I went to another site and tried its IQ test
and scored a 116 - 1 point above "above average" ... WTF !

Obviously the time I have been spending dwindling unproductively in front of the computer has rot my brain to some extent.
Maybe I need to watch a little more T.V.

drawing by Cas

Of course, these test were taken in the wee hours of the morning (i.e. 4am). So the next day I decided to try yet another IQ test. and ...

Wohoo ... quite happy albeit it being purely a logical test; but hey ignorance is bliss.

Honestly, I didn't want to post the websites at first, fearing that YOU people might actually try it and might actually score higher, but then again who am I to quell the opportunity of a challenge.

So if you do (and probably will) beat my score,

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE KEEP IT TO YOURSELF, TQ!

and to show my appreciation (for those who did beat my score), below is ...

I look like WHO?

Went to a cousins wedding yesterday.
It was nice meeting up with the relatives I haven't seen in awhile.

One particular uncle made a comment on how I looked like Anthony Perkins.
Being one with extra-ordinary lack of knowledge in the entertainment industry, I didn't know who Anthony Perkins was.
(yes yes I know, i'm well prepared for the verbal bashing I'm gonna get from some of my cousins from the other side for not knowing who this guy is)

So I did what any respectable lazy Malaysian nephew would do,
smile, nod and accept it as a compliment.

And then did what any respectable IT savvy person would do,
Googled it !

ok back to the wedding ...

The groom looked smart.
The bride looked beautiful.
The wedding was very very nice, packed with all the frills and laces.

It looked really classy, so classy in fact that it got me thinking how much was spent on the wedding.
Then it dawned upon me,

How much is MY wedding gonna cost?

Oh man !

Then it hit me again,
Its not JUST the wedding, its also the house, the cars and probably even ..
Ok maybe those are the big ones that I can think of right now, but i'm pretty sure there are more.

ok back to my lack of knowledge ...

After a short research on my part, I found out that Anthony Perkins was an actor
and one of the more famous movies he acted in was in the original Psycho.

You know the scene some movies have where a person comes into the shower and stabs the person taking a shower then the shifts to a scene where blood is flowing down the drain accompanied by that eerie background music?

Well THAT scene was taken from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.

Anthony Perkins played Norman Bates, the serial killer in the movie.

After the wedding, I went home and took a much desired nap.
There is nothing much quite like a good nap after a tiring day.
Unfortunately A good friend of mine had to wake woke me up from my slumber and asked if I had any plans tonight.
One thing lead to another, and there I was, off my bed and outside, half dead and hanging out with my friends.

Bumped into a lot of people from high school which was also nice since I haven't seen some of them in ages.

Had barrels of fun, which made the night totally worth getting out of bed for.
But then again, that's the thing with this particular group of friends ...

Laughter is always in abundance.

SLevin

Personal Unprofessional Rating : 4/5

Yes , go watch it. Don't let anyone of your friends tell you anything about the movie.
Just watch it.

Before the movie, bowled and broke a finger nail as if it mattered much.
BUT it did effect my game though.
Was kind of cool watching how they cleaned the alley.

1. Wet the lane with a piece of metal with mop kind of material around it attached to long tube , probably added wax as well, couldn't really tell

2. Dried the lane up with flat piece of metal covered with cloth attached to long tube which was probably made of metal as well. Its kind of like the thing you use to dry up the tennis court after a nice rainy day.

3. *The cool part* An unmanned flat piece of metal with WHEELS was placed at the beginning of the lane. This special piece of metal had a POWER CORD attached to it ! Yeah and this gave power to the unmanned piece of metal to move up AND down the lane for some purpose I have yet to find out. So this baby didn't just go one way, it swinged BOTH ways !

Before bowling there was lunch. Really enjoyed lunch, the recommended lamb I had at was very good and the company was even better. There were to choices of lamb in the menu, forgot what I took but it wasn't the Lamb Shoulder.

While waiting to be served, Michael Schumacher took a corner too fast and slammed into the wall. THAT almost took away my appetite.

T'was a very sad moment, till near the end of the race when Button's car just blew and drew to a halt just before the finishing line.

I went "wow", to endure the whole race only to stare down at that finishing line with your ass practically on fire, that must've been something. One can only imagine what was going through Button's mind at that moment.

I mean "wow" .... just "wow".

p.s. Happy Birthday Kev !

Better than the next person

I just realised something recently.
This was while doing a survey, rating a close friend of mine on his/her personality.

Image hosting by Photobucket

As I was sifting through the ratings other people have done I noticed that it differed quite considerably from the one I had given.
I even strongly disagreed with some of the traits that were bestowed on him/her.

Image hosting by Photobucket

Then it hit me.
My rating of him/her is based on my personal experience.
I used what I percieved as normal to compare and contrast.
Though he/she might seem like the devil to one person, he/she might very well be a saint to another.

Image hosting by Photobucket

For example, a person who you'd call a pervert would only mean that he/she is more of a pervert than you are, in your own perspective.
The next guy/gal who comes along might view the aforementioned pervert as a totally normal person.

note : The following, in italic, are rantings of a pissed of gamer.

Now that I think about it, this is probably why I get easily irritated by people who brag about having 1337 skillz and end up DYING like a gazillion times doing DUMB things that aren't necessary in the first place.
(solo-ing abnormally humongous monstrosities in a team game and failing, isn't cool nor is it "1337", its just damn dumb)

Cause if you say you're good/pro/gosu/1337 and I happen to be in the same chat room/channel/board, it means that you're saying you're better than I am.
I dont mind if you turn out to be a pro, but if it doesnt turn out that way, then it's just insulting.

With that being said, i'm not one to go bonkers everytime someone says he/she is good, I for one, can tell when a friend is merely joking. In fact I welcome the friendly banter between players, just to spice things up abit. All in the name of good fun of course.

Laziness

What is laziness ?

I believe laziness comes from the lack of motivation.
Some might say that its the lack of discipline that makes one lazy.

Though both can be accepted , I believe that it is more accurate to define laziness as
the lack of motivation.
At least in my perspective.

Cause the way I see it, you can't become un-lazy by being disciplined.
Sure the person might convey un-laziness after being disciplined,
but that's just because he/she was cultured/trained/controlled to comply to
a specific character or pattern of behavior.

To me, it is the motivation that breaks this habit.
I believe that a person with the greatest of motivations will supersede a person with the greatest of discipline.

So, if there was a battle to the death between a motivated Ninja and a disciplined Ninja,
the motivated Ninja would win.
Now that I think of it, being a Ninja is all about the discipline, so scratch that last example.

If there was a battle to the death between a motivated glucose molecule and a disciplined glucose molecule, then why would they be fighting in the first place?

Well the point I'm trying to make may be loosely translated with the following quote;

"No one is willing to die for a vision. People will die for a cause."
-Mr. Menardo "Butch" Jimenez, UP Diliman Commencement Speech April 27, 2003

BUT being lazy isn't all that bad.
For one, it promotes efficiency.
For instance, a lazy person would think of the cheapest, easiest, fastest and least amount of energy taken alternative way to achieve a certain goal.
Thats why we have the remote control.
Because someone was too lazy to get up and change the channels.
Thats why we have the microwave.
Because someone was too lazy to pre-heat the oven or light the stove to heat/cook their food.
Thats why we have bottled water.
Because someone was too lazy to go up the hill and fetch a pail of water
or maybe they did go up the hill but ended up tumbling after. *sniggers*

Not quite how I imagined it.

Busy week, started off with meeting up some people to sign some stuff.
Had to wear the monkey suit all day, and boy was it hot.

Being currently unemployed, I dont get to wear the monkey suit often.
Heck I can count the number of times on a single hand.
Its mostly adorned at special occasions like, seminars, board meetings, weddings and oh yes .... the prom.

Can't say that i'm too fond of my prom.
Didn't turn out to be the way I imagined it would be.
Then again, things rarely turn out the way we imagine it.

But ]3\_@rdy ]-[3\_\_ la .....
I ordered turkey breast on parmesan oregano with lettuce, mayo, mustard and black pepper .....

and what do I get ?

turkey breast on parmesan oregano with lettuce, mayo, mustard and black pepper WITH additional tomatoes.

Ate it anyway and moved on ... cause thats life.
